HomeAid Northern Virginia receives a $50,000 Grant from Freddie Mac Foundation
This grant will fund two HomeAid No Va programs; Shelter Care is a HomeAid’s program that renovates and improves housing for families who recently lived in a homeless shelter. This housing, called transitional housing, is provided to families recovering from being homeless at a reduced cost. This allows families to save for a rental home of their own. It also gives families, mostly women with children, the opportunity to continue with counseling that increases their ability to stay employed, improves parenting and relationship skills and continues them on a road to success. Living in a stable home and providing supportive programs helps families who were once homeless stay housed. This also builds strong families and strong communities.
The Freddie Mac Foundation grant will also allow HomeAid to create a web site that provides information to Northern Virginia Non-profit care providers, those that care for the homeless. Access to HomeAid assistance, updates on seminars and services available and news about HomeAid gives will be one of many services to our community. It will also give homebuilders the ability to offer their services on-line.
