Texas Roadhouse in Chantilly Raises $350 For HomeAid Northern Virginia
Patrons at the Texas Roadhouse in Chantilly enjoyed Texas Red Chili, Grilled Shrimp, Country Fried Steak and Ft. Worth Rib-eye Steaks one night in September and helped the restaurant contribute $350 from the proceeds to HomeAid Northern Virginia as part of the national celebration for Family Day.
“Family Day emphasizes families eating together and studies have found that their children are less likely to do drugs and are more likely to have better grades,” said Bobby Cary, the managing partner for the restaurant. “Because of the emphasis on families eating together, we wanted to help a charity that focuses on helping families and picked HomeAid Northern Virginia. We plan to do a similar event for HomeAid Northern Virginia sometime next spring.”
HomeAid Northern Virginia is the non-profit charitable arm of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) that builds and renovates temporary shelters for Northern Virginia’s homeless.
Family Day was created in 2001 by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. “Family meals are the perfect time to talk to your kids and listen to what’s on their mind,” said the Center. “The communication that occurs over the course of a meal is critical in building a relationship between you and your kids.”
