Toll Brothers Efforts Save Good Shepherd Alliance $250,000 in Construction Costs HomeAid Northern Virginia Donates $10,000 to GSA
ASHBURN, VIRGINIA – Calling it a “Beacon of Light” in Loudoun County, Virginia Delegate Thomas Davis Rust was the keynote speaker at the dedication of The Good Shepherd Alliance’s (GSA) Center of Hope which helps homeless and impoverished individuals and families currently living in crisis.
Under the auspices of HomeAid Northern Virginia, Builder Captain Toll Brothers renovated the facilities that will now be used to house GSA’s administrative staff, the family service staff, the community outreach center, the volunteers and the “Hope’s Treasures” thrift store.
“It is estimated that through reduced costs and outright donations of time, money and materials by Toll Brothers and more than 75 of their supplier partners, GSA saved about $250,000 in construction expenditures – money that can used to help those most in need,” said David Cogley of Beazer Homes, President of HomeAid Northern Virginia, who also presented GSA with a check from HomeAid for $10,000. “We know this money will be put to good use.”

"GSA and the Center of Hope create a warm, caring, loving environment,” Delegate Rust said in his keynote remarks, “giving opportunity for people to develop skills for self sufficiency and to transition into the workforce. When someone bends over to help someone else, we all stand taller.”
Mark Schmitt, treasurer and member of the GSA board, said, “Words cannot express our thanks to HomeAid Northern Virginia and Toll Brothers who helped transform this place. Toll Brothers along with more than 75 companies came together to make this happen.”
Speaking for Toll Brothers, Bill Gilligan, Regional President, said that “Toll Brothers is proud to be asked to be the Builder Captain on this project. It was a challenge but Joy Trickett (Chair of the GSA Board of Directors) was a magician when it came to getting things done.”
HomeAid Northern Virginia is the non-profit charitable arm of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) that builds and renovates temporary shelters for Northern Virginia’s homeless.
