Ways to Give

A Sound Investment in Our Future
Did you know that your donation does much more than help a homeless family or individual?

Your generous donation helps break the cycle of homelessness by providing stable housing for those who need it the most – children. HomeAid helps people get back on their feet by providing them with newly renovated homes they can be proud of. Research shows that good housing improves health, increases children’s educational achievement and strengthens community ties. A report of last year’s projects can be found by clicking on the link below.

2013 HomeAid Annual Fund Drive Donation Form

HomeAid’s funds help cover the costs of project expenses when the Builder Captain’s team is unable to make a full donation to the project. Your support helps us cover costs such as paint, drywall, flooring, appliances, plumbing and electrical services and other work that goes into each of our projects. For most of of our projects, HomeAid also covers the cost of general liability insurance for the duration of the project - one less expense that the shelter has to worry about. Thank you for your generous donation!

Gifts of Stocks and Mutual Funds

Your generous donation of stocks or mutual funds will assist HomeAid in our mission of providing temporary shelter to Northern Virginia’s homeless families and individuals. A gift of appreciated securities provides increased value to HomeAid Northern Virginia at a decreased cost to you.

Other benefits include:

  • A charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift securities.
  • Elimination of capital gains tax that would ordinarily become due if you had sold the appreciated securities on the open market and donated the proceeds of the sale to HomeAid Northern Virginia.

You should contact your stockbroker to arrange for transfer of the shares. Before initiating a transfer, or if you or your broker has questions, please contact:
